Level 1:
This class level is suitable to student new to yoga, as well as those with an established practice

Level 1-2:
This class level is intended for students with a basic understanding of yoga. Flexibility is not a requirement!

Level 2-3:
Class is taught with the assumption of prior yoga experience. Not all modifications are given verbally (but always acceptable when appropriate for ones body). If new to yoga, we recommend trying a Level 1 or 1-2 class first.

Beginner

This class is designed for those new to yoga. Focused on building the basics of ashtanga/vinyasa style yoga, this class is ideal for those new to yoga as well as those who are looking to build their practice.

Vinyasa

A series of poses intelligently sequenced together, allowing each pose to build upon the previous expression. Vinyasa moves beyond just flexibility to breath, strength, coordination and focus. Each teacher brings his or her own experience to create a safe and effective practice to reconnect with ones own body.

Slow Vinyasa

This class is a notch down from our regular Vinyasa class. Everything is done at a slower pace with restorative style poses integrated in, leading to a more relaxed and meditative practice. This is a good choice for those who want to take things a little slower.

Ashtanga

Based on the traditional Ashtanga Primary Series, this class includes modification allowing all levels to enjoy. The full primary sequence is taught during the ninety minute class, while the 60 minute class is a shortened version (which we call modified primary series) Read more about ashtanga.

Rocket Vinyasa

Rocket Vinyasa is a style of yoga developed by Larry Schultz at It’s Yoga in San Francisco. Directly descended from Pattabhi Jois’s Ashtanga Vinyasa system, the Rocket incorporates classical and advanced Ashtanga poses in a sequence that in a reimagining of the classical sequences.

Restorative

Restorative yoga is a deeply relaxing experience for the body and mind. Using props such as bolsters, blocks and blankets you will be guided through a series of supported yoga poses held passively and for longer periods of time to allow for a deep release of stored tension and stress. This is an all level skills class, no experience required.

ヴィンヤサヨガ

This class is a yoga class taught in Japanese. (longer description coming soon)

Which class is best for me?

If you have never practiced yoga before, we recommend you come to one of the beginner classes or our intro to yoga workshop (held the second saturday of every month). If these options don’t fit in your schedule, let us know and we can try to arrange a time for a teacher to come in a couple minutes early and go over some basics with you before a level 1 class.

If you have a regular practice, then you should be fine in any level 1 or level 1-2 class. Level 2-3 classes tend to be a little faster pace without as much instruction, so it is important to listen to your body and modify where necessary. We look forward to sharing our practice with you.

Ashtanga classes are based on a specific sequence, which is good for people who learn best from repetition. Each class will have the same set of poses in the same order. The Rocket Vinyasa class is also based on a specific sequence, but a little more freedom is allowed so the sequence varies a small bit from week to week. The beginner and vinyasa flow class sequencing is determined by the teacher, and some teachers vary the sequencing more between weeks than others. It’s good to allow for exploration in your yoga practice and to listen to your body. Find the practice that best suits you.
