Since the University “gifted” employees with an unpaid holiday, Yoga Eight is following suit and gifting University employees with an unpaid yoga day. University employees can enjoy their day off with a free class at Yoga Eight. (PS I can’t find the furlough schedule for the state government employees, so if you know it please email me).

Chakra

The word Chakra means wheel in Sanskrit and refers to energy centers that pool within our pranic bodies. In order to comprehend the identity of the chakras we can tease out three distinct aspects of the human being. Humans (some would say all things) are made of matter, consciousness, and energy. Mater being the gross physical body, consciousness being the mind and psychic field of thought, and energy, the animating life force which flows through us connecting matter and consciousness. There are seven main chakras that reside along the spine within the energy body, and each center relates to a level of physical and psychological development. The chakras draw in, process, and redirect specific energetic qualities which inform our health and well being.

Due to life stresses we develop patterns of coping which lead to holding patterns within our physical structure. These blockages can cause illness, chronic injury, and impede our emotional and spiritual growth. By working with the chakras we can illuminate these blockages and utilize tools to return us to a natural state of vibrant health. As we heal we become empowered to heal the world around us. Chakra work is not only self-help, it is the evolutionary work of creating balance in all things.

Closing Thoughts

Tomorrow is Mothers Day, and I would like to wish every mother out there a happy Mothers Day. I am just starting to understand what it means to be a parent, and I find deeper appreciation in all the work and effort that goes into raising children. I hope to see you all soon,

Namaste
